Who is Zohan? Well! Zohan has nothing to do with Lindsay Lohan. Columbia Pictures Presents Zohan and if you are not a die hard fan of Sandler, even then don’t mess with the Zohan. The pair of Dennis Dugan and Adam Sandler is back together after the ever fascinating ‘Big daddy’ and ‘Happy Gilmore’.
Have a sneak peek at "You Don’t mess With the Zohan".
Released On: 6 June 2008
Genre: Comedy, Action
Director: Dennis Dugan
Screenwriter: Judd Apatow, Robert Smigel, Adam Sandler
Produced By: Adam Sandler, Jack Giarraputo
Music Composer: Rupert Gregson Williams
Star cast: Adam Sandler, John Turturro, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Nick Swordson, Lainie Kazan and Rob Schneider
Storyline/Synopsis: Zohan is a dashing Israeli commando but somehow he is not happy with the never-ending fighting. So in order to fulfill his ever cherished dream of becoming a hairdresser, Zohan fakes his death and goes ahead to be a hairstylist in New York. However, just when everything was working too fine, the story takes a hilariously intriguing twist, as his past comes back to haunt him with enemies, both old and new, getting after him. Find out how Zohan make them realize not to mess him!
Strengths: Adam Sandler is just too perfect in the role of Zohan; his antics are funny and his accent is amusing. Zohan is quite hilarious with his unique butt-moving style. Emmanuelle is looking dazzlingly beautiful as Dalia. The storyline is indeed unique and very different from contemporary cinema. And last but not the least, ‘You Don’t Mess With the Zohan’ is definitely going to rock Sandler fans.
Flaws: The major flaw with the movie is that that there is something seriously wrong with the casting director of the movie. Besides Adam Sandler and Emmanuelle, actually no one really stands out as most of the actors, especially those playing the Palestinian and Israelis, have worked really badly on their accents. The jokes are funny but not really funny, the antics are amusing but not really amusing and The Direction is good but only in parts. Well! What more to say, the movie loses the all essential element somewhere in the in the middle. And I will really appreciate if somebody can watch this movie two times, still wanting to watch it yet another time and after that buy the DVD (Well! I know Adam Sandler fans can even do that).
My Rating for the Movie **1/2 i.e. Two and a half stars out of Five.
