Strengths: Brendan Fraser said that he was missing playing Rick O’ Connell and I must say we all were missing the dashing explorer and he has done what was expected from him. He suits the character perfectly and delivers a decent performance. Jet Li rocks in whatever he does. Second half of the movie is amazing. The sword fight between Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh is a treat to watch. These two Chinese actors are definitely the saving grace of this much expected and little delivered movie. Some other scenes like the three head Dragon, Yetis and also a few mind blowing action sequences are the best part of the Movie.

Flaws: Being very frank! If you compare this movie with the earlier ones, then it is definitely a big thumps down. No doubt Fraser is awesome as Rick O’Connell but neither of the two new members of the family, his son and new Evelyn, looks convincing at all. The new wife (pun intended) lacks the charm of the wife in the first two movies. The son looks a bit too much grown up and if you are looking forward to seeing any sort of chemistry between the husband-wife, then be prepared to be disappointed. The first half of the movie is not as amazing as expected. The fun element which is the highlight of The Mummy series is also missing in this flick. The screenplay writers of the movie Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have tried their best to take out all the charm from the movie. The direction is also too patchy and Rob Cohen is to be blamed for making the movie nothing sort of a Mummy literally.

Audience Verdict: I got a chance to talk to my fellow audiences after the movie and they said that they expected a lot from this sequel and were a bit disappointed at the final result. However, kids just loved this movie. Thumbs up from the kids and as far as the adults are concerned; they would be disappointed as the movie fails to live up to the huge expectations.

Special Tip: If you really want to have fun, then don’t expect anything from The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

My ratings for the Movie **1/2 i.e. Two and a half stars out of Five. One star for Mr. Fraser, one for the two too good Chinese actors and another half as a tribute to the Mummy series.
