Storyline/Synopsis: The story of ‘The House Bunny’ revolves around Shelley Darlington (Anna Faris), living a tension free life in the Playmate Mansion as a Playmate Bunny. Her life takes an upside down turn when she is kicked out of the mansion and has to find a new place for her. She lands up with the Sorority girls of Zeta Alpha Zeta, who themselves are living with a fear of losing their house to the conniving girls from Phi lota Mu. Now, Shelley takes up the responsibility to teach these innocent girls about the basics of make up and also impart some important knowledge about men. In return, the Sorority girls would also teach Shelley something she needs the most. What comes out as the result of this unlikely bonding? Would Shelley be successful in her job? How would she take care of these innocent girls?

The Movie is rated PG-13 for sex-related humor, partial nudity and brief strong language.

Strengths: The greatest strength of this movie is Anna Faris and it would not be an exaggeration if I say that it is the best performance of this talented actress. Some scenes are indeed very funny as the Blonde humor of Faris makes the audiences laugh. It would be fair to say that the movie is a one woman show. The Direction work is decently done but nothing extra ordinary about it. Most of the actors fail to impress but still some of them delivered decent performances namely Emma Stone and Kat Dennings. Comparison with ‘Legally Blonde’ would do no good to this movie yet ‘The House Bunny’ has some really good moments.

Flaws: There are a number of flaws in ‘The House Bunny’ as there are not many comic sequences and most of them have been there in the trailer. The screenwriters are to be blamed for not being able to fulfill what this promising movie should deliver. Besides, Anna Faris, there are many other important aspects of film making that should be taken into consideration before writing a review like screenplay, acting by other actors, their chemistry, script, twists and turns in the story, etc and I must say that this movie fails at most of these fronts. After a certain point of time the story becomes quite predictable, Fun element loses its charm, most of the actors are terrible, dialogues becomes stale and so on. If you have huge expectations from the movie, then be ready to get disappointed. Still there is something to cheer about the movie and that is Anna Faris with her best performance till date.

Audience Verdict: After watching the movie, I got a chance to know the opinions of my fellow audiences and as expectedly, most of the women just loved this movie. However, I can’t say the same about the men. If you are in your teens or you are a female, you would surely like it. For the rest I would say hate it or love it but you just can’t ignore it.

Audience rating: *** i.e. Three stars out of Five.

My rating for the Movie is **1/2 .i.e. Two and a half stars out of Five. One star for the remarkable performance by Anna Faris, one star for some really funny sequences and another half because my girl friend loved this movie.

Check out ‘The House Bunny’ at your nearest theatre or wait for the DVD. I would say choose the second one, you won’t regret.
