Storyline/Synopsis: The story of ‘SAW V’ revolves around Hoffman doing the horrifying work of killing people with many out of the world and gruesome ways. Hoffman has to carry Jigsaw’s tradition of murdering people. The killer has to use his detective techniques to find out and then eliminate every obstacle that can expose him or can be a danger to his identity. Would he be successful in tracking and killing innocent lives? You never know what happens next? The Movie is rated R for sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, language and brief nudity.

Strengths: The greatest strength of the movie lies in its title. SAW 5 covers some interesting parts from the earlier SAW movies and lays down a foundation of the next one. The directorial debut of Mark Hackl may not be a grand one but still it is a decent attempt to revive the magic of SAW series and to an extent the director is successful as when SAW V ends one gets a feeling that the next one is bound to have something exiting. Acting wise, Tobin Bell with his strange dialogue delivery can be seen trying hard to revive the magic of Jigsaw and some of scenes shown in flashback are indeed incredible. Rest of the cast is Okay and Scott Patterson is a bit better than the rest. The death Traps are as usual amazing.
Flaws: No doubt, SAW V is full of bloody violence and torture but it is also full of flaws. If you have not seen the earlier parts then you may feel pissed off because of the connection of the earlier Saw movies shown in the flashbacks. There are too many flashbacks and it makes the movie lose its charm. The ending promises for an exciting SAW VI but it fails to live up to the tag line, "You won't believe how it ends." At times, it is boring and some actors have delivered just crap performances. Suspense element is clearly missing and if you leave aside the death traps then the movie lacks many things. I can keep on criticizing this movie but I would conclude by saying that in spite of many flaws it is definitely not the worst SAW movie.
Audience Verdict: As expected most of the fellow audiences were the die hard fans of saw franchise and they had to watch the movie com what may. Most of them admitted that it was just not the best but it is also not too bad. On an Average, audience rating is ** stars i.e. Two stars out of Five.
My rating for the Movie **1/2 stars i.e. two and a half stars out of Five. One for the Director Mark Hackl, who made his directorial debut in the fifth installment of the SAW series after being associated as the production designer from SAW II to SAW IV doing a decent job, one for some really gruesome yet impressive scenes and another half in the hope of watching the next part of the series i.e. SAW VI for which the stage is set.
If you are SAW fan then you should watch the movie at your nearest theatre and enjoy the Halloween season. However, if you are not a die hard Saw fan, then wait for the DVD to come out and watch or See the SAW.
