Synopsis:
Holly Kennedy is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life—a passionate, funny and impetuous Irishman named Gerry. So when Gerry’s life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it’s a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly’s 30th birthday in the form of a cake and, to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to order her to get out and “celebrate herself.” In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way: “P.S. I Love You.” Holly’s mother and best friends, Sharon and Denise, begin to worry that Gerry’s letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but, in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. With Gerry’s words as her guide, Holly embarks on a journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love, so strong, can turn the finality of death into new beginning for life.

Strengths
* An optimistic approach towards life
* Holly is not presented as a typical sympathetic mourner
* Liveliness
* Such an appealing cast
* Sharp, witty dialogues by Lisa Kudrow and Harry Connick Jr. are simply amazing
* Exquisite locales of the garden of Ireland
* Gerry is not shown dying and this saves the tissues of the audiences

Flaws
* LaGravenese has fails to make his mark in this attempt
* Holly’s friendship with Daniel looks forced and superficial
* Lacks the freshness
* Distracting and isolated parts of the story fail to bind the audiences’ interest for long
* Lacks the emotional honesty
* Monotonous lengthy scenes
* Director loses the grip at times
* The audience gets passive, as the whole story moves according to Holly’s moods
* The major disappointment- Hilary Swank, being such a talented and stunningly dramatic actor, is ill-suited for such a romantic comedy
* Gerry never looked ill before he died of cancer
* The lip-locks between Holly and Gerry are quite boring

Why should you go for this movie?
Its not that if a movie has so many drawbacks, you should not go for it. Nothing is perfect in this world. You should watch the movie for one thing, and that is- life has to go on even if we lose our most precious possession. You should watch the movie for its optimism, for its liveliness.
Critic Reviews
* "A movie like this requires believable characters in plausible situations, neither of which P.S. I Love You provides. " Los Angeles Times
- Carina Chocano
* "This misguided chick flick jumps through a lot of hoops just to state the obvious..." USA Today
- Claudia Puig
* "...this post-life comedy will have the sentimentally challenged weeping openly, while clutching desperately to the pants-legs of boyfriends and husbands who are trying to flee up the aisle." Variety
- John Anderson
