Strengths: Acting wise Kiefer Sutherland stands out, it may not be an Oscar winning performance but somehow it would help this talented actor in getting a few more movies. Ezra Buzzington looks good and Mary Beth Peil is simply superb. Everyone missed Amy Smart especially after watching the nude Bath Tub scene. All the other actors have done a decent job. The director Alexandre Aja impresses with some really creepy as well as scenes. The suspense and horror makes up an interesting mix.
Flaws: The characters are not fully developed, the dialogues are a big let down and the movie is quite lengthy. There are many other flaws in the movie but because I somehow liked it so I would just say that the ‘Mirrors’ reflect a patchy reflection.
Audience Verdict: Before highlighting the Audience verdict, I would like to tell you all that the cinema hall looked empty and most of them were watching the movie without many expectations from it. I got a chance to know the opinion of my fellow audiences and all of admitted that they found the ‘Mirrors’ scary but only in parts. The best part about the movie is that those who expected nothing from it would feel as if there is some reflection from the Mirrors. Actually there is some reflection but visible only to few audiences.
Audience rating: 4 out of 10.
My ratings for the Movie **1/2 i.e. Two and a half stars out of Five. One star for Alexandre Aja for the improvement in direction work, one star for decent performance of Kiefer Sutherland and another half for some really scary scenes in the movie
If you are a diehard fan of horror movies, then check out the ‘Mirrors’ at your nearest theatre, otherwise wait for the DVD.
