Strengths: Well! What can you expect from a movie where the person on the director’s chair is Clint Eastwood? As expected the movie adds another jewel in the coveted crown of the Director. The direction is ably supported by the Screen play Writer, J Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame, whose hard work can be clearly seen on the Screen. Every emotion is captured with excellence. The movie takes you back in the settings of the 1930. Acting wise, ‘Changeling’ had a challenging role for Angelina Jolie and she has delivered one of the best performances of her life. Her remarkable performance is bound to get her atleast a nomination at the Oscars. John Malkovich has done exactly whatever was expected of him and is simply perfect. All the actors have delivered awesome performances and Jeffrey Donovan stands out. The dialogues are impressive and are enough to make the audience emotional. The movie is too good to say less but we will conclude by saying ‘Keep your fingers crossed as ‘Changeling’ has all the ingredients to get an Academy Award.
Flaws: There is no denying the fact that the movie is a strong Oscar contender but ‘Changeling’ is definitely not a flawless wonder. At times, the movie appears to be getting too long which actually it is. The length could have been adjusted. Also, some of the fellow audiences felt that at some places Angelina Jolie and some other actors are doing a bit of over acting. The movie could have scored better if these points have been properly handled.
Audience Verdict: When the movie ended, it brought out the emotional side of the Audiences and most audiences had wet eyes. Ladies loved it, Men appreciated it and a few people found it ‘good but a bit lengthy’. However, Overall the Movie gets Thumbs up from the audiences and that too from both hands.
